For professional athletes, coaches, or amateur athletes, the difference between the two types of clothing in the headline is fairly clear. Novices may have more difficulty distinguishing between these types of material, as this is where the difference lies. If we have never bought professional sports clothing, we may not have knowledge about it. This article will serve as a help for such novices. At the outset, we must note that thermal clothing and thermoactive clothing are significantly different from each other. Therefore, we cannot use these terms interchangeably. So, what are the basic differences? First and foremost, in the use of one and the other sports clothing. “Sports clothing” is a category to which we can both subtypes. Remember this one thing: thermoactive sports clothing is also thermal clothing. Thermal sports clothing, however, is not always thermoactive clothing. These concepts are not identical. Thermal clothing and thermoactive clothing are different from each other. Let’s look at these differences.

What is thermal clothing and what functions does it serve?

Thermal clothing is all types of clothing (underwear, shorts, long and short sleeves, hats, gloves) whose purpose is to protect against hypothermia on a cold day. We most often invest in it in the autumn and wear it outdoors until early spring. In our climate zone at this time, we usually have temperatures not exceeding a few degrees above zero and cold winds. Manufacturers of thermal clothing, which is characterized by a high degree of thermal insulation, come to the aid of “frostbites.” Materials used to make such clothing include: fleece sweatshirts, cotton undershirts, woolen sweaters, and insulated jackets. The main drawbacks of clothing made of these materials include a lack of proper ventilation. Exercise in such non-breathable clothing is therefore risky because the sweating body will eventually start to freeze, putting us at risk of getting a cold. In addition, exercising in such materials is uncomfortable and simply unpleasant. The issue of winter sports is solved by manufacturers of thermoactive clothing, while thermal clothing should be left for winter walks.

Second type of clothing?

Manufacturers of thermoactive clothing have scored points with athletes who do not give up outdoor training even in winter. In such clothes, we will not sweat – our sweat is conveyed outside, so training in such attire is comfortable and protects against hypothermia after training. Importantly, thermoactive clothing helps us maintain a constant body temperature, so we can also say that it serves as thermal clothing. What makes this type of clothing so comfortable? First and foremost, thermoactive clothing has been produced from unique materials. These include synthetic polyamide and polypropylene and natural ones such as merino wool. In addition, manufacturers of this type of clothing enhance these materials with silver ions. We particularly recommend thermoactive clothing to people who prefer continuous sports that generate significant energy losses. Such sports include: running, cycling, Nordic walking. Thanks to the use of this clothing, we will certainly maintain our natural warmth, remove excess energy outside, and any cold air from outside will not pass through this great material.
